1977 Triumph Spitfire For Sale


Direct from the heart of Orange County California comes this recently emerged garage find of a 1977
Triumph Spitfire. I have known of this car for many many years and remember vividly it driving
up and down the street in the neighborhood where I lived. It belongs to a school teacher and his wife
and it was their fun car for many years. At one point the owner decided it was time for a restoration
and he jumped into it whole heartedly and painted the car himself as well as doing the top and interior.
He used it sparingly since then and then it went into deep storage for a few years.
Now they are looking at re-locating and the car must go. It has not been started in about five years.
The battery is dead and the owner has no time to deal with it. The car is being sold as-is where-is.
It did run and drive when parked, so it should breath fire once again with a little coaxing.


Its a great looking car, very clean lines and classic styling.
The quality of the paint and body is average, it was done at home.
It shines pretty well and I think with a good color sand and buff job it would gloss up even nicer.
The car is a very solid example and there are ni signs of any serious body damage or repair.


The factory sport wheels with trim rings look nice and the rear mounted luggage carrier gives you some
added cargo space for those weekend adventures.


Fit and finish of the panels is at acceptable levels.
Chrome trim is overall prety clean and proper.


The top was replaced just prior to going into storage and is in very good condition.
Some of the wether stripping is showing a little age like the window scrapers.


The interior is dusty from storage but appears to be in overall nice condition.
A good bath and some vinyl protectant and you are looking good.


I love the way the hoods open on these cars. Great access to everything but youve got to watch your head.


The factory little 4 banger engine is totally stock and proper.
Fairly clean, no major messes, just a little grime from use and storage.
As mentioned before, the car was running when put into storage but it has not been started since it's emergence from the garage.
I urged the owner to give it a try, but he is too busy to deal with it. I do know the guy personally and he is an upstanding honest fellow
I am sure the car was running when it was parked, so I imagine with a little tinkering it will go once again.

A great British sports car for someone looking for a fun little project and weekend toy.
