1979 Dastun 280ZX For Sale

The Datsun Z cars have always had quite the following and as the years click by I am seing values
climb on nice examples. The one thing that seems very common in the world of "Z's" is that
many of them have been modified beyond repair and other have been simply driven into the ground.
This one appears to have escaped both fates quite well.

The car is still in the hands of the original owner, a gentleman who is getting quite old now.
He first leased the car and once the lease was up
he bought it and have kept it ever since.
The car reportedly has just 41,000 original miles!
We are asking for some receipts and documentation to back this up (which he is looking for)
but based on the condition of the interior...I think it very well is what is claimed.
(Im always a skeptic on that sort of thing)

The car has had an exterior only respray at one point during it's life
but everything else is truly untouched.
The wheels were dealer installed and have been with the car since new.
The radio has never been changed, still original upholstery, everything is totally stock.

There are a couple of paint flaws here and there...it is not perfect by any means
but considering the age of the vehicle...it is obvious it was well cared for.

There is some fade to the paint on the wipers and on the window trims...easy to repaint
but nice to see it in it's original finish.

Dash looks nice in the car...glass is good.

Vents on the hood and cowl look to be in good shape.

Classic Japanese sports machine.

Some slight fade to the bumpers visable in this shot...but overall still well preserved.

Under the front bumper.

Car is very solid underneath

Just a bit of road grime as you would expect.

I love the "My Other Car is a Rolls Royce" plate frame
and the rear window louvers.

Taillight lenses look original and clean.

Nice looking car.

The Z car is an Icon if there ever was one.
And true icons live forever...these cars have always been cool and I think they always will be.

The interior of the car has withstood the test of time well.
A bit of wear from use and time, but considering how much the sun took the life out of the plastics
here on the West Coast...I am pretty amazed at the condition of everything.

Original Z mats in place, original carpets, seats and everything.
The drivers seat shows a little wear but is not ripped or damaged like you would expect.
The owner almost always has driven with a towel over the seat.

Body is very straight and smooth.

There is a little sun fade to the rear window louvers.

Door gaps look good.
There is a little tiny bit of rust starting at the back corner of the front fender and just before the rear wheel
This is minimal, but it is present.

1979 was the first year for the ZX!

Window switches look nice.

Car could use some detailing in the door jams and under the hood and such.
A little bit of effort here would make a big difference and would be fun to do.

Looks pretty clean under the dash.

Original radio and seperate tape deck in place!

Armrest in nice shape.

Mirror controls

Again... a little detailing in the interior will make a huge difference!

Clean those door jams up...and WOW!

Dash is in excellent shape.
And the car is of course a manual trans car...no automatic here!

I love the wheels on this car...can you get more 70's than that?

There are some paint blisters forming on the edge of the front hood...minimal, but something that should be taken care of before it spreads.

Under the front hood everything is truly untouched.
A steam clean and some detailing it it will look awesome!

Carroll Shelby wheels!

Tires are in very good shape with plenty of tread.

Engine room is dusty...needs that full Saturday of cleaning and detailing...

Dash pad...nice.

Cruise control...car is very well equipped.
Nice to see the area around the ignition switch so clean too.

Odometer reads 41,433 miles at the time of these photos and we have been told that this is the actual mileage!!

Door panels ae excellent.

Some sun fade to the steering column plastic and a little discoloration
from use on the steering wheel...but over all...quite nice!

Here is the production tag.

In closing this is a very nice, unmolested example of the first year ZX.
Great history, good original condition and it is an excellent runner and driver.
Located in the Los Angeles area and can be seen by appointment only.
