1947 Crosley Deluxe Convertible

The 47 Convertible is a fairly rare model in the small world of Crosley
collectors.
It has the classic 40's styling and of course the ability to tan your headbone
on those nice sunny drives.
The Crosley is one of the only American built micro-cars out there.
Powered by a 4 cylinder water cooled engine, the car delivers an honest
50-55 MPG on regular fuel.
Compare that to any other American car of the day!!

This particular example has been restored to a very nice Sunday driver
level.
Its not a concours level restoration and it doesnt travel in an air tight
container
to each event, it is a car that was truly built to be enjoyed and driven.

The top was recently redone and the wood side rails were refinished.
Stainless steel body trim is in excellent condition and many of the chrome
parts
have been recently replated. The car also features several unique period
accessories that act as icing on the cake.

The glass is in excellent condition and the rubber weatherstripping is
nice as well.

Great chrome hood ornament...classic 40's style.

What a great little face!
The Porkey's License plate is in reference to the 1984 movie "Porkeys
2" that had an identical car featured in it.

The cutle little engine is rated at about 26.5 hp, so it's not something
that will burn rubber at stop lights or keep you
in the fast lane of the freeway. Much better designed for aroud town cruising.
The engine is very very clean and runs like a top.
A delightful driver...just turn the key and go.
The radiator, generator and fuel system have been recently rebuilt and
new hoses and belts installed.
6 volt electrical system.

Underside of the hood

The slab sides are smooth and straight.
Quality of the paint and bodywork is average, but presentable.

Brand new tires all the way around on two tone painted wheels with the
proper Crosley hubcaps.
The tires are modern radials for improved handling over the original bias
ply.

Clean title with current registration.
If the buyer is in California the personalized plates can be negotiated
for.
Here you can see a good representation of the paint quality. It has a little
orange peel in spots.
A professional color-sand and buff job would probably do wonders if it
bothered you,
but the car has a fun fresh appearance to it so it is probably not neccessary
for most folks.

Gotta love the emblem...
"Crosley, a fine car!"

Crosley club decal in the window.
Crosley owners are welcome at almost any event, but the most fun would
have to be the micro car events that
are held aroun the country. Fun people in funny cars. You dont meet many
boastful attitude filled micro-car owners.
Very welcome fun folks.

Check out this really cool accessory passing mirror!

The interior of this car is super clean and attractive.
Amazingly comfortable even for a tall driver ( the current owner is well
over 6 foot)
Three speed manual transmission.

Very cool and simple dash design.

Odometer reads 20,514 miles.

Rare original Crosley radio.

The simple no-nonsense 3 spoke steering wheel.

Another rare option, the factory heater!

Excellent carpets.

Seats are like new.

Top bows are nicely detailed.

Top rolls back simply and fits well.

Door jam detail.

Nifty flip top ashtray.

This is a car so cute you just want to bring it with you in the house.
You could probably get it through the door too!
It measures roughly 4 foot wide and 10 feet long!
Parking spots are not a problem...it will happily take leftovers.

Down low on the rocker panels the finsh work on the body isnt great...looks
like it has had a little repair done in the past.

Pretty solid looking underneath. It does not appear to have been a rusty
car.

So...there you have it.
A whole ton of fun in a pocket sized package.
Seriously there are few cars on the road today that will get more attention
than this one will.
Its a rare and desireable model that is turn key and ready to enjoy.
Car is located in Pasadena California.
