For Sale...one of the most bizarre Corvair show cars of the 60s!

It is a bizarre assemblage of parts, but the more you look, the more you
like.
Its a strange one to be sure...Im sure someone will remember it out there...hard
to forget a ride like this.
The effort that went into it's construction is huge...lots of custom fabrication
and a very wide range of parts used. The mechanicals and suspension are
all GM Corvair stuff.
Originally when first built and shown, the car was outfitted with two Corvair
turbochargers!
Those unfortunately are gone and a single 4 barrel carb is fitted.

The frame is all steel and the seams were all molded smooth.

I love the back end of it with that crazy tubular framework and the big
chromed out 6cyl Corvair engine hangine out the back.
Black California plates...Mustang taillights, polished fuel tank, those
funky blocky-tread rear tires...it's really funny.
The rear fenders are not on the car in the photos but are included...they
give it a more "street legal" look to it.

There was originally Beetle rear bumper blade across the back here...the
brackets are there.
The engine runs fantastic by the way...the generator was rebuilt, the carburator
as well,
the engine has been serviced and it fires right up!
The brakes have been checked out as well...this thing is driveable!

Lots of chrome...check out the blue spark plug leads and all the chrome
lines.

The Holley four barrel carb gives it the gas...plenty of power to scare
the hell out of you.
Four speed transmission, clutch works smoothly. Mallory ignition. New battery.

Polished fuel tank is something else!

Fuel gauge is on the end of the tank.

Crazy set up. Last registered in the early 80's...been in storage ever
since.
By the looks of everything it was used very sparingly during it's life...doesnt
look to have been played with
off road...it's a street machine.

The fiberglass front nose is very interesting to me...reminds me quite
a bit of the front of the
"Ala-Cart" hot rod of George Barris fame in the 50's...anyone
else have an idea?

Corvair Spyder emblems flank the nose.
(note: signal lights have been changed to smaller amber units since these
photos were taken)

Nice CORVA sticker will excite those into the early California buggy scene.

The windshield and polished section below is a slick bit of work.

Front bumper has a custom tow bar that can be pulled on and off as needed.

Strange does not begin to describe the car...but it's a good start.

OK...the windshield... if my research is correct, this is early 50's MG
TD.
The panel below is custom work of course.

This pic shows the side of the windshield bracket well... twist the knobs
and it will fold forward.

Here's the tag on the top of the windshield frame...consistant with original
MG TD equipment.

Controls are simple and straightforward.

Great period tachometer works well!

Love this dragster gas pedal!!

Gotta have a spot for your beverage of choice!
This vintage Coleman jug is fitted into a special holder with spring loaded
clamps!

Quite the fabrication work went into the build.
New matser cylinder for the brakes too by the way.

The seats are pretty interesting as well.
One of the fronts is missing the upholstery for the seatback, but everything
else looks great.

Center console features switches and gauges and the ignition and a lighter.

Shift knob...chrome shifter has a great bend to it...

Aluminum steps for the back seat passengers.
Aluminum floors

Handbrake

Rear seats are in really nice shape.
All seats have seat belts too by the way.

Top is in fantastic condition.

Split rear window!!

Goodyear Polyglas GT tires up front... nuff said!

Here's a detail of the rear suspension...

And another shot of that cool Corvair powerplant!

A face only a Mother could love? I think not!
This thing makes me smile the more I look at it.
What a fun beach car, or great for desert camping, local parades, whatever!
You will be the only one in your town with "The Lively One" in
your driveway!
